I am experimenting with various simple sketching tools for Visual Structural Thinking. I sketched the following illustration using iOS Freeform in a cafe; it can be done with many other apps, such as Concept and Whiteboard.
In V-Work’s OLO Business Operating System (BOS), a framework is an indispensable tool guiding us in specific situations. Unlike Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the framework is not mandatory or as rigid.
Solution Design Framework is composed of a few frameworks and tools to help in the following situations:
How can I achieve my goal?
What solution can fulfill the business requirement?
How can we build a solution that can exceed the expectation?
I don’t know where to start approaching the problem …
I don’t intend to elaborate on how these commonly available business tools (frameworks) work; the illustration is more about connecting the tools in an engagement process. None of these frameworks or tools are from me. I implement what works for our organization.
Many people, including myself, make the common mistake of jumping to a solution or conclusion when presented with a problem. As a young consultant, I thought that was smart and witty. In fact, the quick solution is often obscured by ego and blind spots, short-sighted and incomplete, and a one-off solution patch without improvement or any closed feedback loop. The worst is solving the wrong problems, hence not reaching the goal.
Weekly Update
The hummingbirds are doing well. Two nestling babies started with bare-skinned bald heads, but within a short time, they had tiny black feathers. The parents tolerate my presence two feet from the nest, watching the feeding frenzy. They are fed nectar and worms.
It was my first time seeing and tasting the gac fruit, which is high in beta-carotene and lycopene. I bought the fermented enzyme from the farmer (250ml costs RM80, about USD18). Next time, I can visit their farm.
Love the solution design framework visuals. The images are a good summary of the processes.
And the baby hummingbirds look so cute!
